Be careful in promoting the sale of products for human consumption to prevent coronavirus infection based solely on pre-clinical Petri dish studies. Many compounds have been discovered that can block Sars-Cov-2 viral replication in a dish, which does not necessarily translate into preventing infection in a live human setting. For example, per your article, it is probably impossible to dose someone with enough heparin to result in a high enough concentration in blood and airway tissue without causing bleeding problems. Or you might have to eat more seaweed than possible to get the effective dose mentioned in the study, depending on its bioavailability in the airways, where the virus propagates. . To be scientifically fair, all compounds must be tested in a placebo-controlled live human study to determine the effectiveness and safety in preventing or treating a coronavirus infection.
Instructing your audience to purchase and consume seaweed products – for medicinal purposes not proven and not described on their label – is actually teetering close to malpractice and fraud, despite your best intentions.
It’s fine to share preclinical early stage results from SARS-Cov-2 treatment studies; it’s dangerous to promote vitamins for purposes not described on their label. You might be thinking “it can’t hurt.” It probably won’t hurt people to take already approved vitamins, but it opens you to legal liability to allege a medical effect without empirical live human studies. Promoting the sale of these Seaweed products is premature, both scientifically and legally.

I’m not working on Coronavirus treatments and have no conflict of interests to declare. Moving forward, I hope these compounds mentioned in this article do get properly tested in human studies. Also,I don’t see where I “allege a medical effect without empirical live human studies.” This is the text provided by the manufacturer:
“Modifilan is made in the US and the raw material, these days, is harvested in Patagonia – one of the very few places where larger Laminaria species are still found in the wild habitat. All of the raw supply is tested, before it is released, at the point of entry by the USDA and is subject to quarantine by FDA. So, I don’t see that “Promoting the sale of these Seaweed products is premature, both scientifically and legally.” I have used and sold Modifilan for over a dozen years because of its described benefits and never made medical claims for it. One of the reasons I began using it was because of my increased awareness of the prevalence of radioactivity that I learned about from the Meier material.
The last thing I need of course is a problem based on a nutritional product. So, please do scrutinize both my short article, the manufacturer’s claims and my comments and do let me know specifically if and how they may actually be problematic.

One more thing since you were concerned about such things, do you think that the proposed mandatory vaccinations of the public with substances that haven’t undergone lengthy clinical trials might be as dangerous to people as taking edible seaweed?
IMO, I doubt the pharmaceutical cow $$$ machine (industry) would allow a natural supplement as a replacement for their so called best to cure what ails you medication. Most of the newer pharmaceutical meds among vaccines come with side effects (some which are only made public yrs from a meds release period). I’m more of a natural alternative consumer as seems this should be utilized and publicized more today which can help lower the severe effects and mortality rate of the virus). But in the end the cash cow machine industries have a big say on the media $$$ aside of politically (donors $$$).
I took Micheal’s advice when it was first brought to our attention a decade ago. Great stuff.

Tried spirulina on and off for a few years now and since the corona, I can’t do without it when blended with morringa powder inside a half cup of homemade kefir. Seaweed, I guess, would require a bit of time to get accustomed to but its possible – especially now knowing what we know about the nefariousness of the corona.
