The eruption in La Palma could last “several weeks or a few months,” according to the director of the Canaries’ Volcanology Institute, Nemesio Pérez. Speaking this morning on the Cadena SER radio network, he explained that the duration would depend on the amount of magma that had accumulated in the volcano’s “reservoir.”
He added that the emissions of sulfur dioxide from the volcano will need to be studied in order to help determine how long the episode will continue. “The first day we calculated between 6,000 and 9,000 tons, and a falling trend will be indicative of a diminishing eruption,” he explained. “Once 48 hours have passed with no emissions, we can conclude that it has ended.”
This nice man here is giving us ‘inside information’ on what is happening on the island. From what I hear from him they have whale watching tourism! He also has not been told by his government to wear a mask because breathing ask is no bueno. Greed is top priority as always.

A short while back and prior to the eruption, Euronews showed residents helping a beached baby Orca (Killer whale, largest living species of dolphin), back into the sea. The last view of the baby Orca was mum and baby slowly swimming away, they probably had a lot to talk about and it looked so sweet.

The Turkey Point nuclear power station in South Florida is 25 miles south of downtown Miami, sitting adjacent to the northernmost parts of the Florida Keys, it would not really be protected from a Cumbre Vieja tsunami, even as it sits in front of the barrier island of Elliot Key due east, itself barely 3 feet above sea level.
A Fukushima-type of disaster in South Florida (uncontrollable core meltdown) would probably be a realistic scenario if a 20 foot tidal wave came racing across the Atlantic from the Canary Islands and crashed into that nuclear reactor. The power plant’s east side was built to withstand 19.7 feet of water. In addition all the spent fuel rods would be tossed over the land and open waters, contaminating anything in proximity for hundreds and thousands of years. Just like what has and is continuing to happen in Fukushima.
There are 13 U.S. coastal nuclear power installations. They are all facing the same disaster if a tidal wave comes out from the Cumbre Vieja eruptions.

I came across this Youtube video on La Palma that was posted in 2017. They’ve known about this for a while. And as usual, ignored (And was barely a blip in the news) by the people in power.
A new fissure has opened up on the volcano, and a river of red-hot lava is making its way downhill to the sea.
Water vapor loaded with hydrochloric acid, Sulfur dioxide and other gases at the moment, are going out to sea, concerns are that the wind direction will change taking the vapor clouds over the island.
The mass of lava is increasing, causing more weight to build up on the side of the volcano.
As a tongue of molten rock is building up on the island’s western shore, and expands La Palma island by 17 hectares.

A crater collapses with more earthquakes, and fresh lava surge flows down the hill.
With 8 new earthquakes the volcano seems to be becoming more aggressive , but the scientists say there is currently no need to organize any further evacuations.
