AI is out. Our opinions were not asked, and now we have to deal with it. To start the work sooner than later, I decided to ask ChatGPT if it knew about Billy. To my surprise, it did. Here is the answer to the question: Do you know who “Billy” Eduard Albert Meier is?
So, there is no going back now from AI.
I asked it many questions. What is interesting here is the answer to questions such as: Is the database you use coming in from the internet?
Did you get that? “I do not have direct access to the internet or databases. Instead, I have been pre-trained on a vast corpus of text data…” That means information on Billy was included in this. I guess AI needs to be “pre-trained” on how to deal with the Billy case.
Here is the thing about AI – it is not completely telling the truth. There are many ways this can be proven. For example, ask AI at what temperature steel melts, then ask at what temperature jet fuel burns, and then ask if burning jet fuel can melt steel. I think you know what I am driving at here.
Here is the challenge presented to all: let us check to see how truthful AI is by using the Meier case. Let’s ask tough questions and publish the answers. There are indeed many things we can use to test this, but we are going with Billy on this. Here is what I mean, I asked AI this question: Has anyone ever scientifically validated any of Billy’s claims? And here is the answer I got:
