It is true global warming must be eradicated and this is only possible by reducing the ever increasing demands upon our planet, which demands alone create and use the energy fuelling the heating of our oceans, skies, and hence the planet. It matters not what policies are enacted if the population is allowed tocontinually grow as it is; its demands and needs of every kind will assure that planetary decimation will occur. The math is simple and undeniable.
I received a reply to my email from Danielle and the count-us-in team in which they acknowledge overpopulation is a problem, but seem uncommitted to working for a global family planning program. I’d love to take it further with them, but stacks of outstanding uni work mean I must work on that all my time for a while. Here’s Danielle’s reply:

We truly admire your level of engagement and acknowledge the validity of your point. Count Us In aims to build on and complement the success of the climate movement in recent years.
We want to mobilize 1 billion people to take practical steps that when aggregated, will make a significant impact in reducing carbon pollution. This will signal to political and business leaders that their voters and consumers care, creating a cycle of positive change.
We wish to help accelerate progress. For this, we know we must engage a new group of citizens. We are reaching out to those who have a significant carbon footprint, and, like you, are concerned about climate change – but feel overwhelmed or lost about what they can do.
To be able to truly engage this non-activist segment, we’re prompting them to reduce their carbon emissions through progressive, practical steps they can take in their lives right now. Choices about having children, and how many children to have, are relevant only to some people at a certain stage in their lives, and so not something that we’re including in the practical, day-to-day steps we’re asking people to take.
In time, however, we hope our steps will help people turn pledges into habits, allowing them to raise their ambition and actions, and to continue to cut their carbon pollution even further
